I was misdiagnosed at the doctors as I had all the symptoms, i had a rash all over my body, a temperature and chills when I went to the doctors, along with tonsillitis. I was sent home with some drops because the doctor diagnosed me with thrush, well he was very wrong.…
The day after my Grandad decided to phone 111 and get an emergency appointment at the hospital which I had been Friday night. I was immediately sent to ACU for blood tests and the nurses and doctors discovered I had septic shock, they started my treatment immediately. They put a canular in my arm and started me on paracetamol (to help with the shaking) and then on antibiotics to fight the infection.
I was transferred to a ward where I was put on a heart monitor, my heart rate was a 140. I was put on fluids when my antibiotics had finished, my temperature was also 38.9.
I was on the heart monitor for 3 days, and fluids for 2 days. I was barely able to walk from the pain in my joints.
After 5 days in hospital I was discharged and I’m now currently on oral antibiotics. The sepsis came from misdiagnosed tonsillitis. They are considering removing my tonsils as I’ve had problems with them before.
I am very tired and weak as a result from this, and I never thought something like this could happen to me, especially at 19 years old… but it did.
Luckily it was discovered when it was and I am still here to tell my story.
