Sepsis Savvy Walk

Various dates in March 2024

The UK Sepsis Trust is organising national awareness walks which will take place on the weekend of 16th/17th March and 23rd/24th March 2024. This exciting event will take place at multiple locations across the UK, with the aim to raise vital funds and sepsis awareness. Each walk will be a set route and distances will vary between locations.

Fundraising

Please aim to raise £100 , or as much as you can, to support us in our mission to end preventable deaths from sepsis and improve outcomes for sepsis survivors.

Sutton Park, Birmingham – Saturday 16th March 2024 Open

This walk will be taking place at Sutton Park and will be approximately 6.9km.
When you cross the finish line, celebrate with your family & friends knowing that you have walked to support the UK Sepsis Trust.

Key information

Meeting point

This walk will start and finish at the Nature Reserve Visitor Centre. The walk will start at 11:00am and all participants should aim to be there at 10:30am.

Travel information

The closest car park will be the Town Gate Car Park, which is one of the entrances to the park. Parking will be free at this time of the year.

Please arrive in good time to avoid queues. Please consider the most sustainable method of transport, or car share where possible.

There are toilets at the Visitor Centre, and at the Wyndley Leisure Centre.

Accessibility

The meeting point is on grass. The routes are on paved paths, a small section at the start is on grass. There is accessible parking close to the visitor centre.

Route

The route will be approximately 6.9km in distance. There will be marshals/signage on the route to point you in the right direct and there will be UK Sepsis Trust staff at the start point and end point of the walk.

Hillsborough Park, Sheffield – Sunday 17th March 2024 Open

Join us in Sheffield for one of our Sepsis Savvy Walks 2024. This walk will be taking place at Hillsborough Park and will be approximately 5km.

When you cross the finish line, celebrate with your family & friends knowing that you have walked to support the UK Sepsis Trust.

Meeting point

This walk will start at the right of the main car park. The walk will start at 11:00am and all participants should aim to be there at 10:30am.

Travel information

The main car park is charged at 90p per hour. There is limited on street parking nearby.
If you are travelling by tram, Hillsborough Park is on the yellow route to Middlewood.
Please arrive in good time to avoid queues. Please consider the most sustainable method of transport, or car share where possible.

Accessibility

The meeting point is on hardstanding. The route is on paved paths. There are approximately 10 accessible parking spaces on the Parkside Road car park.

Bristol Grammar School, Bristol Sports Fields, Failand, BS8 – Sunday 17th March 2024 Open

Join us in Bristol for one of our Sepsis Savvy Walks 2024. This walk will be taking place Bristol Grammar School and will be approximately 6k.

When you cross the finish line, celebrate with your family & friends knowing that you have walked to support the UK Sepsis Trust.

Meeting point

This walk will start within the Failand Sports Grounds. The walk will start at 11:00am and all participants should aim to be there at 10:30am.

Travel information

There will be parking available at the Bristol Grammar School Failand Sports Ground. There will be a member of staff directing parking when you arrive.

Please arrive in good time. Please consider the most sustainable method of transport, or car share where possible.

Refreshments after the walk will be available onsite.

Accessibility

The meeting point is on grass. The route is a mixture of grass, woodland and woodchip. There are accessible parking spaces to the rear of the building.

Battersea Park London – Sunday 17th March 2024 Open

Join us in London for one of our Sepsis Savvy Walks 2024. This walk will be taking place at Battersea Park and will be approximately 5km.

When you cross the finish line, celebrate with your family & friends knowing that you have walked to support the UK Sepsis Trust.

Key information

Meeting point

This walk starts outside the Victorian Bandstand. The walk will start at 11:00am and all participants should aim to be there at 10:30am.

Travel information

Nearest train stations are Queenstown Road Train Station or Battersea Park Train Station. Both are approximately a 10-minute walk to Rosary Gate entrance.

Nearest tube stations are Sloane Square, Victoria or Pimlico.

Various buses serve Battersea Park. Please visit TFL for up-to-date bus routes and time tables.

Car Parks

There are three pay and display car parks within Battersea Park:

• Chelsea Gate
• Rosery Gate
• Albert Bridge Gate

All car parks are pay and display Monday to Sunday (including Bank Holidays).

Please be aware that machines do not give change.

Taff Trail, Cardiff – Saturday 23rd March 2024 Open

Join us in Cardiff for one of our Sepsis Savvy Walks 2024. This walk will be taking place in along the Taff Trail in Cardiff will be approximately 6.5km.

When you cross the finish line, celebrate with your family & friends knowing that you have walked to support the UK Sepsis Trust.

Meeting point

This meeting point will be at Hailey Park by Llandaff North Rugby Club. This will be a circular route and will finish in the same place The walk will start at 11:00am and all participants should aim to be there at 10:30am.

Travel information

There will be parking available at The Llandaff North Rugby Club.

The meeting point is on grass. The route is on paved paths. The car park is on tarmac.

Heaton Park, Manchester – Sunday 24th March 2024 Open

Join us in Manchester for one of our Sepsis Savvy Walks 2024. This walk will be taking place in Heaton Park and will be approximately 5km.

Meeting point

This walk will start outside the Pavilion House Café in the park. The walk will start at 11:00am and all participants should aim to be there at 10:30am.

Travel information

The nearest car park is the Lake Car Park, which can be accessed by using the Sheepfoot Lane entrance, M25 0DL.

By Bus

You can take the number 135 from Manchester City Centre, which stops at the tram station on Bury Old Road. Many buses travel to Heaton Park, including 56, 59, 64, 64A, 135, 137, 138, 150, 151, 484, 495. Please check with TFGM for the latest travel information and an interactive journey planner.

By Metrolink Tram

The nearest metrolink tram station is Heaton Park. Trams run regularly from the City Centre and other destinations. There is a gate into the park directly opposite the station, and once in the park you should keep walking straight ahead, following signs to Heaton Hall.
