Heroes at Highclere

Those who serve and those who save

On the 8 and 9 September, The UK Sepsis Trust were in Newbury for the magnificent event Heroes at Highclere at Highclere. As one of the event’s selected charities, we were invited down for the weekend, to raise awareness and funds for the trust and honour those who serve and those who save.

The weekend was a fantastic success (not least because it only rained once)! The UKST staff and volunteers went out into the grounds, meeting the guests and raising awareness about the condition that claims 52,000 lives in the UK every year. Attractions of the weekend included vintage games, a free prize draw, an official RAF Chinook tour and celebrity football matches.

Here’s a bit about the weekend from our Volunteer Coordinator Francesca:

I found it incredibly inspiring to meet so many of our amazing volunteers! Over the course of the weekend we had an impressive 56 helping us out. It was great to put names to faces and all come together as a team to work really hard and achieve so much! Without the help of our volunteer team we really wouldn’t have been able to reach as many people as we did and make as many new contacts.
