Kirsten's Story

My volunteering consists of giving talks to various groups about my experiences surviving sepsis. In addition to raising awareness about the recognition and treatment of sepsis, I advocate for patient rights and options, and discuss the long-term situation facing many sepsis survivors. I’ve also written an educational book about my experiences, entitled A Measure of Light, and update my talks and media contributions on www.measureoflight.net. Through volunteering, I really enjoy the opportunity to meet different people, and many of them, particularly in the healthcare sector, genuinely appreciate being able to hear a real-life testimony from a survivor, all of which I hope will improve conditions for sepsis sufferers in the future.
