EDU-THERAPY

Edu-Therapy is a structured psychological educational programme, provided by trained specialists at The UK Sepsis Trust, to help people who have experienced significant loss as a result of sepsis. This might include a bereavement loss, a health loss, a loss of identity, or a loss of relationship, to name a few.

The primary focus of Edu-Therapy is to give people a solution to the pain caused by unresolved grief and loss.

Running across eight modules, the programme is designed to help you understand your emotions without the need to explain your story, as well as exploring steps to help you navigate the difficult emotions that arise from a sepsis experience.

The Edu-Therapy™ programme has helped me so much. I have learned how to own my grief and express it how I wish. I find the relationship review a most powerful tool; it can be used when required and helps keeps you grounded.

FAQs

How does Edu-Therapy™ help with the deep emotions of grief and loss?

Edu-Therapy teaches participants how to access and identify conflicting emotions without the need to explain or share the story attached, and then explores concrete steps that can help to decrease the impact of intense, negative emotions.

Is Edu-Therapy™ only helpful for bereavement loss?

No, Edu-Therapy is helpful for all loss life experiences.

Is Edu-Therapy™ a talking therapy?

No, Edu-Therapy is a modern, innovative alternative to traditional talking therapy and counselling, rooted in a ‘cognitive behavioural model’. Essentially, this means that we teach you how to acknowledge and let go of emotional pain through a series of steps and written exercises.

Do I need to be at a certain place in my grief to access Edu-Therapy™?

No, Edu-Therapy is helpful as soon as you’re ready to do some work to help yourself feel better. There is no reason to wait.

You need to be at a point where you would like to alleviate some of the pain you are feeling, have an open mind, be fully committed to the wellbeing of yourself and be happy connecting with a small group in a safe online space.

How long is the programme?

There are eight modules, each lasting two hours. Each module is intended to build on the previous module.  For Edu-Therapy to be beneficial you therefore must attend all eight.

When does the programme run?

The programme will normally run on a Tuesday either 1-3pm or 6-8pm with 4/5 cohorts a year.

Is there homework on this programme?

No homework. All work is done within the 2 hours online.

How much does this programme cost?

Ordinarily private Edu-Therapy courses cost in the region of £600+ per person, however for our first cohorts we are able to offer a limited number of fully funded places. Each group member will require an Edu-Therapy ‘Bundle’ which consists of a Workbook and a ‘Feeling Wheel’.  We ask that you self-fund for this (£15 including p+p) as well as making a donation to the charity.

What do I do next?

If this programme sounds like it would be helpful and you would like to enrol, or if you have any questions, just register your interest via this link and we will be in touch to arrange a call.

After my dad passed, I felt lost. Attending the EDU has given me the tools and support to learn to live alongside the loss and pain and how to carry it differently. Grief doesn't go away, but the course helped me realise I can honour my dad's memory without being consumed by sadness, and for that I'm very grateful.
