On 28th April 2026, healthcare professionals from across the UK will gather at The National Conference Centre in Birmingham for Let’s Talk Sepsis 2026 – a national event focused on improving the detection, treatment, and prevention of sepsis in all areas of care.
This year, we’re proud to announce a formal partnership between the UK Sepsis Trust and Knowlex, the organisers of the conference, and the UK Sepsis Trust. The collaboration brings together clinical expertise, lived experience, and system-wide insight to help drive meaningful change in how the NHS responds to one of the most urgent challenges in healthcare today.
A shared mission
At its heart, Let’s Talk Sepsis 2026 is about uniting those on the frontline of care with the tools, knowledge, and partnerships they need to improve outcomes. With sepsis affecting an estimated 245,000 people and contributing to at least 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, the stakes couldn’t be higher.
At UKST, we’ve long championed the importance of early recognition and rapid response, as well as the need for ongoing support for survivors and families. By partnering with Knowlex, we’ll be ensuring that patients’ voices are represented throughout the conference, alongside leading clinicians, researchers, policymakers, and innovators.
Together, UKST and Knowlex aim to:
- Raise awareness of the latest best practice in sepsis care.
- Support NHS teams with practical, real-world strategies.
- Highlight innovation, from diagnostics to digital tools.
- Amplify the patient perspective and lived experience.
- Create space for cross-sector learning and collaboration.

Why is UKST involved?
At UK Sepsis Trust, we play a critical role in shaping the national response to sepsis through advocacy, education, and support. Our involvement in Let’s Talk Sepsis 2026 reflects a shared commitment to improving outcomes by connecting the clinical and personal dimensions of care.
As Charity Partner, UKST brings valuable expertise and credibility to the event, ensuring the patient perspective is visible throughout the programme. Our contribution helps to deepen the conversation around early recognition, systemic improvement, and survivor experience, as well as complementing the clinical focus with insight from those directly affected by sepsis.
Through this partnership, we hope to build momentum around national priorities and foster greater alignment between healthcare professionals and those working to support patients and families beyond the point of care.

Sepsis remains a leading cause of avoidable death in the UK. Despite improvements in awareness and treatment, there’s still much to do in achieving consistency, speed, and confidence in sepsis care across the system.
By bringing together voices from clinical practice, policy, innovation, and patient advocacy, Let’s Talk Sepsis 2026 aims to move the conversation forward – not just in theory, but in practice.
