Pedalling with purpose: The Big Ride to take place in memory of Anne Channevy Walsh

18 March 2025

In September 2024 – sepsis awareness month – Anne Channevy Walsh’s loved ones faced heartbreaking loss, after she passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. She died from septic shock after being told she had ‘a cold’ following surgery.

Veronique Channevy, Anne’s sister, describes her as: “A remarkable woman – small in stature but with a huge personality. Intelligent, loving, fun, and kind, she was an incredible sister, daughter, auntie, wife and friend. Anne made life brighter for everyone around her.”

But her legacy lives on, and this June, her husband Ben, brother-in-law Cormac, and close friends are taking on an extraordinary challenge to honour her memory.

The challenge team ACW will cycle the length of the UK, from Land’s End to John O’Groats, raising vital funds for both Versus Arthritis – a cause close to Anne’s heart – and the UK Sepsis Trust.

Their journey will be physically and mentally demanding, but with Anne’s spirit driving them forward, they are determined to make a difference.

The team have already secured an incredible £25,000 donation from Generation, Anne’s workplace, to kickstart their fundraising efforts.

MB Associates is honoured to be the official kit sponsor for the event.

Sarah Hamilton-Fairley, CEO of the UK Sepsis Trust, said: “We are incredibly moved by the dedication and commitment of Team ACW. Their efforts in honouring Anne’s memory and raising awareness of sepsis are truly inspiring. We extend our heartfelt thanks for their support to date and acknowledge the incredible challenge they are undertaking. Their journey will help us continue our vital work in fighting sepsis and supporting those affected by it.”

Deborah Alsina MBE, Chief Executive of Versus Arthritis, said: “As one of our volunteer Research Partners, Anne Channevy Walsh used her own experience of arthritis to shape our research, working to help bring a future free from arthritis one step closer. We were incredibly sad to hear of her sudden passing late last year. Ben and the team’s efforts to help keep her work going are incredibly admirable and a fitting legacy to a special woman. I offer them my heartfelt thanks and the best of luck with their challenge.”
