Every Cuppa Counts

Host a charity coffee morning for the UK Sepsis Trust

Host your own charity coffee morning with Every Cuppa Counts! Bring friends, family, colleagues or your local community together over tea, coffee and cake to raise vital funds and help spread awareness of sepsis.

Whether you gather at home, at work, at school or in your community, your coffee morning or tea party will help support people affected by sepsis and our mission to end preventable deaths.

Every cuppa shared helps raise awareness, every pound supports our lifesaving work, and every conversation could help someone recognise the signs of sepsis sooner.

Why host a charity coffee morning for UKST?

Sharing a cuppa is a simple way to bring people together, start important conversations, and create moments of connection within your community.

By hosting a coffee morning for charity, you’ll help us continue our vital work supporting people affected by sepsis. Every donation helps us improve awareness, support recovery, and prevent avoidable deaths from sepsis – making every cuppa count:

  • £50 could help us deliver an awareness talk at a school or local community.
  • £105 could help support someone during their recovery journey.
  • £200 could help fund a regional support group event.

How to host your own Every Cuppa Counts event

Step 1. Register and plan your event

Register and choose a date and venue that works for you. You can host in your garden, workplace, school, local community hall, or any other welcoming space.

Once you register, we’ll send you a free fundraising pack to help make your charity coffee morning a success, including promotional materials, balloons, and a T-shirt.

Step 2. Invite your guests and make it special

Spread the word and invite friends, family, neighbours, or colleagues!

Wear your UKST T-shirt, decorate your venue with materials from your fundraising pack, and share our sepsis awareness resources with your guests. Add your own personal touches too – whether that’s homemade bakes, games, or extra decorations that make your event special.

There’s no one way to host an Every Cuppa Counts event. You could organise:

  • A coffee morning to start the day
  • A tea party fundraiser for friends and family around your kitchen table
  • A traditional afternoon tea with homemade treats
  • A bake sale at work

Don’t forget to make it easy for your guests to support your fundraising by setting up a JustGiving page and sharing the link before or during your event.

Step 3. Enjoy your event and pay in your fundraising

Whatever your Every Cuppa Counts event looks like, we hope you enjoy bringing people together while raising vital awareness and funds for the UK Sepsis Trust. Your support makes a real difference.

Once your event is over, simply pay in your fundraising money online or through your JustGiving page and celebrate the difference you’ve helped make.

FAQs

Can I host a charity coffee morning at any time of year?

Yes! You can host your charity coffee morning at any time and choose a location that works best for you. If you’re planning to hold your event outdoors, check the weather forecast beforehand so everyone can enjoy the day comfortably.

September is an especially meaningful time to come together over some tea and cake, as it marks Sepsis Awareness Month.

Can I do more than coffee and cake?

Absolutely. There are lots of ways to make your Every Cuppa Counts event extra special, from holding a raffle or running a “guess the weight of the cake” competition to organising a cake-decorating competition or a tea or coffee tasting – the possibilities are endless!

Is there a minimum fundraising target?

There’s no minimum target. Every donation counts and makes a real difference to people affected by sepsis.

Do you need a food hygiene certificate to serve tea and coffee?
No, you don’t need a food hygiene certificate to make and sell food for a charity tea party or coffee morning, according to the Food Standards Agency.

However, you should make sure all food and drink are handled safely by following good hygiene practices, such as washing your hands with soap and warm water and keeping equipment and surfaces clean. Likewise, if you’re baking treats, be sure to note any allergens in the ingredients so you can provide this information to anyone who needs it, and use tongs or a cake slice for serving.
