I volunteer as a sepsis support group lead helping those who have been affected by sepsis. Having been a survivor myself long before the support groups were set up, I was invited to the very first group by one of my nurses who was helping me to deal with aspects of my post sepsis issues. I was the only attendee at that first meeting, but immediately decided that I was going to attend every group from then onward and help others in my situation. I now volunteer in different ways for the Trust, raising both awareness and much-needed funds. It is so worthwhile and has been both cathartic and rewarding.
