Leaving a gift in your will

WHEN REMEMBERING FAMILY AND LOVED ONES, MANY PEOPLE CHOOSE TO LEAVE A GIFT IN THEIR WILL TO CHARITY.

Leaving a charitable gift in your Will is far simpler than many people realise.

If you would like to include a gift to The UK Sepsis Trust, the simplest ways of doing this is by leaving a share of your estate (known as a residuary gift) or through a cash gift (known as a pecuniary gift) to the charity.

Dr Ron Daniels
Founder & Executive Director: UK Sepsis Trust

"Leaving a Will is so important as it ensures your loved ones are cared for in the way that you want. It also allows you to support, should you so wish, causes close to your heart. Sepsis is when our immune system over-reacts to an infection or injury. The UK Sepsis Trust (UKST) exists to fight this life-threatening condition, stop preventable deaths, and support those affected by sepsis.

The numbers are staggering. Every 3 seconds, someone in the world dies of sepsis – that’s 11 million people, globally, each year. In the UK alone, 245,000 people are affected by sepsis with at least 48,000 people losing their lives to sepsis-related illnesses annually. This is more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer combined. Yet, for many patients, with early diagnosis, sepsis can often be easily treatable.

There’s a huge lack of awareness about sepsis. To save lives demands both an educated public and switched-on health professionals – symptoms can vary hugely so communication is key. We’re hoping our resources will help to increase the public’s knowledge about this devastating condition in an engaging way.

Gifts in Wills to the UKST will allow our life-saving work to continue. It will also allow your generosity and compassion to live on – thereby saving potentially thousands of lives.

Writing a Will can often bring peace of mind, so we hope you find this information helpful. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact 0121 716 5923 or email us at fundraising@sepsistrust.org.

Thank you again for considering leaving a gift to the UKST – we are sincerely grateful."
