GAMA Healthcare

GAMA Healthcare is a dynamic, innovative company at the forefront of infection prevention technology. In 2020 a partnership was established with UK Sepsis Trust (UKST) – this in turn  sparked a number of creative fundraising initiatives led by staff engagement, backed by the senior leadership team.

GAMA HEALTHCARE MOVES FOR SEPSIS

In 2020 GAMA Healthcare approached the UK Sepsis Trust (UKST) with a fundraising initiative that would see the organisation raise money for UKST during COVID lockdown restrictions.

The ‘Move 4 Sepsis’ initiative was quickly brought to life through the support of colleagues from across the organisation enabling employees to choose from a range of fundraising options. GAMA donated £5 for each kilometre completed whether it be running, cycling, swimming or walking. 98 colleagues joined forces to cover 7,000km raising a spectacular £39,000.

In 2021 ‘Move 4 Sepsis’ was back in full swing, with Stephen O’Connor, Operations Executive who competed in the London Marathon, raising over £10,000 for UKST. In addition to his amazing achievement, employees from GAMA Healthcare’s UK offices were joined virtually, by their colleagues in Foshan, China, for a 5km fundraiser walk.

Combining their fundraising efforts with a core belief that educating healthcare professionals and improving infection prevention practice is just as important as developing effective products, GAMA Healthcare has enabled UKST to reach thousands of people through fundraising and internal communications with their teams, supporting our mission, whenever they can, in raising awareness of sepsis among the public and healthcare professionals.

Dr. Guy Braverman, Managing Director & Co-Founder of GAMA Healthcare, said: “UK Sepsis Trust is one of the most cherished charities we support. Sepsis can be a devastating condition, yet for many patients with early diagnosis, it is treatable. With the founder of the charity also a doctor in the NHS, we saw a natural partnership to help in the fight against infection and our colleagues feel very passionate about raising money for this cause. It’s great to see so many GAMA Healthcare colleagues put on their running shoes to help fundraise.”

Daniel Rootes, Operations Manager at GAMA Healthcare, said: “I’m so proud of the team for raising an astounding amount of money for UK Sepsis Trust. I had personal experience of sepsis with my sister being diagnosed shortly after giving birth to her first child. Luckily, it was caught early, and she made a good recovery. It showed me that sepsis can be devastating to patients and their families, but does not need to be, as it can be treatable in many cases. The UK Sepsis Trust is working hard to make changes and provide education, and it’s great that we’ve been able to help with this. I contributed by cycling, mostly off-road from our Watford office towards Halifax, making it as far as Leicester before bad weather forced me to turn back –totalling 160km!”

Ron Daniels, Founder and Joint CEO of UK Sepsis Trust, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that GAMA Healthcare has chosen to partner with us. The fundraising achievements have been truly outstanding – to raise so much in such a short space of time reflects an amazing team effort. The money so generously donated will support the charity’s four objectives: raising public awareness; educating health professionals; supporting those affected by sepsis and instigating political change by lobbying the government. Sincere thanks to everyone at GAMA Healthcare for choosing UKST – partnerships like these can save thousands of lives every year.”
